Always interested in photographic display, a number of years ago Monica, a world renowned fine art photographer, began scouring antique shows and flea markets for vintage lockets, cigarette cases and powder compacts that could hold family photographs.  Originally, she adapted these one-of-a-kind heirlooms to hold treasured photographs of children and family.  As demand increased, Kosann developed her own unique line of handmade, heirloom-quality, engraved silver and gold  display cases and jewelry.

49 Square Miles was born of a collaborative experience in the accessory industry together with a genuine love of the San Francisco Bay area.  The collection utilizes Italian leathers in rich, saturated color, paired with exposed stitching and minimal hardware. Such details lend to a distinct organic and artisanal feel, a direct reflection of the San Francisco Bay area, its people and its culture.  The designer, Lisa Rissetto, lives here in Woodside.

Sweet Bella
These leather wallets and coin purses are made by the last of the six traditional leather-making families of Venice to still be creating this type of work (now in its fourth generation). Each piece is hand painted and hand embossed with 24K gold. All the intricate designs and basic forms are original to the company’s beginnings more than 100 years ago. This is the first time this family’s beautiful work has been sold outside of Venice.

May’s jewelry designing family heritage began in the 1940’s with her grandmother who started collecting and selling rare antique jade pieces. Many of the jade pieces found in the May Bartus Designs collection are antique jade passed down from May’s grandmother that cannot easily be found today.
